DOCERAM Dortmund was established in 1994, when the merchant and General Manager of DOTHERM, Juergen Moeschter, met the visionary ceramic engineer Marcus Keulen.

In an early stage, Keulen had already recognized the immense influence which ceramic materials would have on modern high tech industries and was now looking for a partner.

For DOTHERM with their duroplastical heat solutions, ceramics with heat resistance being only one of their many advantages was the ideal match. The parties came to a quick agreement and DOCERAM was founded at the existing site of DOTHERM in Dortmund.

The concept of DOCERAM was then what it is today: Convince through competence and engagement. DO CERAM Dortmund is achieving its target by the help of 18 highly motivated European employees in Germany and abroad as well as over 100 Asian employees at two locations in China: Yixing and Shanghai.

The cross over to China came in 1995, only one year after the foundation of the company in Germany. Reason for this quick engagement was the aim to be able to offer prototypes as well as large series at a lower price than the competition. With our own moulding centre in China, we are able to develop for our customers at low price, until the product is ready for serial production, which will hence be done in China, or in Germany.

A high tech production in Germany and a good standard production in China match ideally and offer the opportunity, to be able to offer very flexible and payable solutions, even for extraordinary customer requirements.

Whilst the operation in China suits a large series production, the production in Germany is designated for small and medium series with highest requirements towards precision and speed.

Powder compaction is done by cold-isostat pressing. The body is green machined by CNC milling, CNC turning, drilling and sawing to a near net shaped part. The pre-shaped part is then sintered in high-temperature furnaces and processed on high-precision CNC diamond grinding machines.

With our high end equipment, we realize the narrowest tolerances at total precision. And we can control and document them. To guarantee this, we have intensively invested into the latest measuring technology. Thus we can undergo even unusually fastidious projects which demand an outstanding performance in precision and speed.

Advanced surface finishing makes every part a high tech product with individual characteristics.

In addition to our know how and very strong technical equipment, our customers benefit from our flexible and agile production structure with sufficient production capacities which enables us to handle projects much faster and more intensively than our competitors. The materials used by us, Alumina, Zirconia and Silicon Nitride are of high purity with excellent characteristics.

The good quality of our products is based on constant research and development. Our in 2000 developed and patented blue "Cerazur“ is a world-new material: Based on a Zirconia, its characteristics for highest mechanical requirements are greatly improved.
